Caribbean Meat Patties

Calypso Restaurant Recipe

Makes 12 patties

1 lb. ground beef
1/2 cup diced yellow onion
1/2 cup finely chopped new potatoes
1 teaspoon garlic
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon pepper
2 tablespoons curry powder
2 tablespoons lime juice
1/4 cup dry sherry
1/4 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup finely chopped carrots
1/4 cup finely chopped cilantro
12 puff pastry sheets (5x5 inch)

Cook ground beef, chopped onion, new potatoes, salt, pepper, garlic, curry, lime juice, until beef is brown and onions are tender. Drain off excess fat. Stir in sherry, soy sauce and carrots. Let cool and add chopped cilantro. Preheat over to 400 degrees. Take pastry sheet and fill with 2 oz. of meat mixture. Fold over and seal with a fork. Bake in oven on non-greased baking sheet for 10 minute or until golden brown. Serve with a mango chutney.
